Robin M. Cooper, Psy.D. | Claremont, CA

I am Robin Cooper, a licensed clinical psychologist based in the greater Los Angeles area. I provide individual psychotherapy, both in person in my office in Claremont, as well as via telehealth, to adults in California. I specialize in LGBTQ+ issues, with a focus on providing affirming care for transgender and gender expansive folks. I also specialize in relationships, body image concerns, and grief and loss.

I hold a doctorate in psychology (Psy.D.) and have over 15 years of clinical experience, primarily working in community mental health and university counseling. In therapy, I provide a safe nonjudgmental space that is compassionate, warm, and collaborative. I draw from relational, psychodynamic, feminist, sociocultural and affect-focused theories. So much of our suffering is rooted in feeling alone and disconnected. We feel far away from important parts of ourselves and from others. I see therapy as a place where we are curious together, where we seek reconnection with ourselves and others, and where we practice self-compassion as a way through emotional pain.

My personal and professional values are deeply rooted in social justice. I take seriously the sociocultural contexts in which we live our lives. Our experiences of marginalization, oppression, and privilege shape our experiences in the world and thus, our understanding of ourselves. I am dedicated to the practice of cultural humility, antiracism, feminism, size inclusivity, anti-ableism, and allyship.
