Robin M. Cooper, Psy.D. is a psychologist in the Los Angeles area who offers mental health care via telehealth to individuals in California. Dr. Cooper specializes in LGBTQ+ issues, especially trans health, relationships, body image concerns and grief and loss.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and provide individual psychotherapy, via telehealth, to residents in California. I hold a doctorate in psychology (Psy.D.) and have over 15 years of clinical experience, primarily working in community mental health and university counseling.
While I have extensive experience seeing individuals with a wide range of concerns, my specialties include working with individuals struggling in their relationships with partners, friends, and family, providing affirming care to the LGBTQ+ communities with a focus on trans health, body image issues and chronic dieting, and also grief and loss.
I provide a safe therapeutic space that is compassionate, warm, and collaborative. I draw from relational, psychodynamic, feminist, sociocultural and affect-focused theories. So much of our suffering is rooted in feeling alone and disconnected. We feel far away from important parts of ourselves and from others. I see therapy as a place where we are curious together, where we seek reconnection with ourselves and others, and where we practice self-compassion as a way through emotional pain.
My personal and professional values are deeply rooted in social justice. I take seriously the sociocultural contexts in which we live our lives. Our experiences of marginalization, oppression, and privilege shape our experiences in the world and thus, our understanding of ourselves. I am dedicated to the practice of cultural humility, antiracism, feminism, size inclusivity, anti-ableism, and allyship.
